Anti - Wrinkle

CONTRA-INDICATIONS OF ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENTS:

  • Allergy to Botox or its excipients.

  • Active neuromuscular disorders e.g Myasthenia gravis/Eaton-Lambert Syndrome.

  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

  • Pregnancy or breast-feeding.

  • Under 18 years of age

  • Active infection/open wounds/inflammation at treatment site (e.g. acne, cellulitis, herpes simplex).

  • Certain medications that may interfere with treatment (e.g. some antibiotics, muscle relaxants, blood thinners)

  • History of difficulty swallowing or breathing disorders

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS IN ACTIVE DISEASE

  • Hashimoto's disease.

  • Graves’ disease.

  • Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Lupus erythematous, Scleroderma.

  • Antiphospholipid syndrome, Vasculitis.

  • Ulcerative colitis.

  • Crohn's disease, Vitiligo, Psoriasis.

  • Active systemic infection or illness (e.g. fever, flu-like symptoms)

  • Uncontrolled autoimmune conditions

  • Acute exacerbation of chronic medical conditions

  • Active neurological disease affecting muscle function

  • Ongoing inflammatory or infectious conditions that may impair healing

 

Important
Treatment should only proceed once the condition has fully resolved or is well-controlled. A thorough consultation is essential to assess safety and suitability.

 

CAUTIONS – ANTI-WRINKLE (BOTOX)

Botulinum toxin treatments can be carried out safely in most individuals; however, extra care may be required in the following cases:

  • Use of blood-thinning medications (e.g. aspirin, anticoagulants), which may increase the risk of bruising

  • History of previous facial surgery or altered facial anatomy

  • Weakness in the muscles to be treated

  • Pre-existing asymmetry of the face

  • Bleeding disorders

  • Certain neurological conditions

  • Use of medications that affect neuromuscular transmission (e.g. aminoglycoside antibiotics)

  • Tendency to scar easily or develop prolonged swelling/bruising

  • History of Bel’s Palsy.

  • Bleeding disorder.

  • NSAIDs, Aspirin, Vitamin A & E, Omega 3, fish oils, St Johns Wort, Ginkgo biloba – these al increase the risk of swelling and

  • bruising.

  • Currently taking Aminoglycoside antibiotics – can potentiate the muscle relaxant effect.

 

Important
These factors do not always prevent treatment, but they will be carefully assessed during your consultation to ensure the procedure is safe and appropriate for you.

Dermal Fillers

CONTRAINDICATIONS – DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal filler treatments may not be suitable in the following cases:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • Under 18 years of age

  • Known allergy to filler ingredients (e.g. hyaluronic acid, lidocaine hyaluronidase, anaesthetic)

  • Allergy to bee/wasp stings

  • Active skin infection, inflammation, or lesions at or near the treatment area (e.g. acne, cellulitis, herpes simplex)

  • Active systemic infection or illness

  • Autoimmune or connective tissue disorders (relative contraindication depending on severity)

  • Oral vitamin K anticoagulant.

  • Autoimmune diseases.

  • Bleeding disorders or use of anticoagulant medication (increased risk of - bruising/bleeding)

  • Cancer in active treatment

  • Porphyria

  • Untreated epilepsy

  • History of severe allergies or anaphylaxis

  • Previous adverse reaction to dermal fillers

  • Presence of permanent fillers or implants in the treatment area

  • Tendency to develop keloid or hypertrophic scars

 

Important
A full consultation is required prior to treatment to assess your medical history and suitability. In some cases, treatment may need to be delayed or avoided to ensure your safety.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS – DERMAL FILLERS IN ACTIVE DISEASE

Dermal filler treatment should be avoided or postponed if you have any active or uncontrolled conditions, including:

  • Active skin infection, inflammation, or lesions in or near the treatment area (e.g. acne, cellulitis, herpes simplex)

  • Active systemic infection or illness (e.g. fever, cold/flu symptoms)

  • Active autoimmune or connective tissue disease flare-ups

  • Ongoing inflammatory conditions affecting the skin

  • Active oral or dental infections (particularly for lip or lower face treatments)

  • Recent or unresolved facial infections or sinus infections

  • Any condition that may impair healing or increase the risk of complications

  • Hashimoto's disease;

  • Graves’ disease

  • Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Lupus erythematous, Scleroderma.

  • Antiphospholipid syndrome, Vasculitis;

  • Ulcerative colitis;

  • Crohn's disease, Vitiligo, Psoriasis.
